Situated in the magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago, Northern
Mozambique. Medjumbe is a small, mystical island, only 1 km in length and
500 metres in width, featuring a number of small bays and coves, complete
with white beaches surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean.
How
to get there?
Guests can fly to Pemba Airport in Mozambique from Johannesburg and Dar es Salaam.
There are also daily connections from Maputo. This is followed by a 50 minutes
scenic flight to Matemo Island. |

| Medjumbe Island Resort is an intimate island resort,
the ideal Mozambique island getaway for those who wish
to experience exclusivity and privacy on a remote tropical

The Medjumbe Resort accommodation consists of a total
of 13 thatched chalets, situated in secluded spots
just metres from the beach. Each chalet has an en-suite
bathroom fitted with an indoor shower and separate

find on the island. Or just stroll along Medjumbe's pure
white shores and marvel at the azure waters and the stunning
sunsets.
What to do
Diving
Treat yourself to an underwater wonderland with captivating
diving where you can experience some of the world's
richest coral reefs. The Island feature phenomenal vertical
drop-offs, some up to 400 meters. These walls are abundant
with coral covered caves and tropical fish ranging from
Gobies to mammoth Napoleon Wrasse and game fish including
Kingfish and Spanish Mackerel.
Fishing
The game fishing in the waters surrounding Medjumbe Island
is expected to include Kingfish, Barracuda, Dorado, Queenfish,
Serra, Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna and Sailfish.
Snorkelling
The waters off Medjumbe Island are of such a superb standard
that you need not be a scuba diver to enjoy the amazing
diversity of the marine riches. There are a number of excellent
sites where snorkellers will be able to appreciate the stunning
tropical reefs, whales, dolphins, marine turtles and other
exotic marine life.
Whale watching & dolphin

Whale watching in the passage or outer areas occurs during
August to November. Dolphin spotting takes place throughout
the year.
Stargazing
The clear skies above the island are ideal for stargazing.
As there is no interfering artificial light from nearby
cities nor any pollution in the skies to contend with-this is the perfect place to lie back and study the celestial
treasures above Medjumbe Island.
Sunset Cruise
Sunset cruises provide the perfect form of relaxation after
a long day. Enjoy a cruise on our various routes as dictated
by the tides and wind.
Bird watching
Rarely seen species of birds, a vast range of Palaearctic
migrants and a variety of Waders species, can be seen around
the island and tidal pools.
