Bawe Tropical Island Lodge is exclusive and exquisite bare-foot luxury in the pristine waters of the Indian Ocean. Bawe Tropical Island has only 15 exclusive cottages discretely distributed along the beachfront with panoramic views of the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The chalets are built in such a way to ensuring maximum privacy and seclusion, roofed with traditional makuti to giving a cool atmosphere day and night. The cottages are spacious with a queen size bed (featuring shapes of Ngalawa’s – a local fishing boat), a sitting area and a small desk. The tasteful interiors, known as los colores give a warm combination of soft colours (greens, yellows, oranges, grape fruit) and are elegantly decorated. The ensuite bathroom is equipped with modern facilities, including a huge bathtub and shower.
Each cottage has a wooden deck facing the sea with deck chairs and a sun bed, covered by a romantic pergola with exotic flowers. On request they the lodge will set up a bed with a mosquito net for the persons who want to sleep on the deck.
The exquisite Restaurant features the finest International Cuisine as well as traditional Swahili recipes, with an awesome five courses menu. Delicious grilled fish, daily fresh catches from the surrounding waters will please the most demanding gourmets. Evenings in the Full Moon Bar are the most romantic experience, under rustic candlelight. The lodge also offer an outside area were breakfast and lunch can be enjoy.
From its privileged situation in the western coast of Zanzibar, Bawe Tropical Island affords a prime sunset location. The Sun Deck on the highest and most western side of the island offer spectacle sun sets in the clear African sky.
